Introduction & History
Gulab Devi Hospital has been providing exceptional care for the patients and their families since 1934 with the passion and commitment. Gulab Devi provides the full range of clinical services, tertiary care, health promotion and prevention program. Al Aleem Medical College is another milestone achieved by Gulab Devi Hospital. The idea to provide the best medical education along with the practical approach of training for our doctors in the country gave birth to the Al-Aleem Medical Collage in 2017 which was conceived as a part of Gulab Devi Educational Complex, all the vast facilities that are a part of GDEC are also provided to the Al-Aleem Medical Collage.

Al Aleem aims to:

extend teaching facilities.
establish, maintain, and promote medical research centers.
encourage, promote, support and arrange symposia, seminars, lectures, classes, demonstrations and exhibitions to produce quality education for the students
Gulab Devi Hospital was initially conceived by a prominent Hindu political leader of Punjab in 1928 who built a memorial hospital/treatment facility to perpetuate the memories of his beloved mother Gulab Devi.

Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah visited Gulab Devi Hospital as Governor General of Pakistan on 6th of November 1947 accompanied by Mother of the Nation Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah and placed his remarks with signature of both brother and sister on the Visitor Book which are still preserved in original with the present Managing Committee considering this an asset. The valuable wording of Quaid-e-Azam is reproduced as under;

“I visited the Gulab Devi Hospital which is now attending to the refugees on the 6th Nov. 47. Those who are in charge of it, doctors, nurses & others are doing excellent work and deserve our thanks for their selfless devotion to the humanitarian work.”

This small 28 bedded facility over the years has now grown to become a 1500 bedded chest hospital dealing with chest and cardiac ailments – the biggest in this country.

In order to keep the doctors working here, abreast of the latest progress and advances in the disciplines of chest and cardiac diseases, the educational activities were proceeding since long; however, it was felt that the vast number of patients presenting here with such myriad patterns of diseases could easily provide a rich research substrate for generating pioneering management guidelines for the diseases in this field the world over. In order to translate this aim into a practical shape, a need for energetic researchers and teachers of these disciplines gave birth to Al-Aleem Medical College. This prestigious institution aims at producing highly professional and committed doctors. Quality education using advance teaching strategies supported by innovative research to meet the highest standards of patient and community healthcare is the key factor at Al-Aleem Medical College.
