COMMUNITY & PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY DEPARTMENT at MIHS by Dr Sadia Sajjad Assistant Professor/HOD

Introduction
With the reference to the message receive by HR department, in this report we will
highlight the activities of our department during this lockdown due to coronavirus
pandemic.
Faculty Members:

− Community Dentistry coursework
− Departmental online activities
− Coordination with the administration/faculty/staff

Coursework
The department is following the academic calendar for BDS second year. The
syllabus is being delivered to the students during these days through online via
zoom live sessions in the form of PowerPoint presentations and videos. As far as
community dentistry practical are concerned, we took online practical sessions with
the whole class and students were asked to make the assignment in their log books,
which will be signed when college will open. The community/school visits are the
one side we are unable to do due to lockdown and we miss that but these will resume
as soon as the situation gets normal. (Inshallah)

The 6th semester DPT and 4th year DPT students are also on board with the community
department. These students are getting lecture according to their timetable and
assignments. We are well coordinated with their class teacher and their attendance is
being marked as well.

Activities
The following activities are being implemented by the department of community &
preventive dentistry, MIHS.
 Online interactive sessions via zoom/attendance on ERP
 Online Tutorial session with the students
 Hand written assignments on coursework by the students, to be submitted on
weekly basis via email/whatsapp.Student will also submit this work when college
will reopen.
 Weekly meeting with the worthy Principal and vice principal MCD for feedback
and guidance
 Community department has whatsapp group with the class to coordinate with
them.

Coordination
The department is in full coordination with the administration/ HR/IT/Faculty and
students. I appreciate the help and support, I am getting from my seniors and colleagues to
work effectively during this time of pandemic. We dealing with day to day queries which
are sorted out with the help of all the MIHS members. The great commitment, loyalty and
availability of concerned person whenever needed is the success of our prestigious
institution. We are thankful to the timely dissemination of information/support by the
administration of MIHS. No doubt the college routine is being missed and with the help of
Almighty Allah we will get through this difficult time together and united.
