With the increase in the demand of human resource intellectuals and professionals, Baluchistan was in dire need of a new institution for bringing educated men power. Thus, the establishment of University of Loralai was proposed for the purpose of serving the impoverished province of Baluchistan in social and economic domains of life.

The result of the study conducted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) supported the requirement of a University for Zoab Division at district Loralai named “University of Loralai”. For this purpose 500 acres of land at (Zarr Karerz) has been provided by Provincial Government, allocated 12 Km away form the Loralai City at Quetta Road. Notwithstanding, the tentative proposal of the University of Loralai was approved in the ECNEC meeting held on May, 2011, allocation of Rs. 1518.751 million allocated by the HEC as per PC-1 for University of Loralai.

University of Loralai was established in 2009 as Sub-campus University of Balochistan Quetta. It was initially run under UoB administration for almost four years. Later on, it was declared a full-fledged university with the promulgation of the University of Loralai Act No.VI of 2012, passed by the Baluchistan Provincial Assembly on 24 September, 2012 and assented to by Governor, Baluchistan on 27th September 2012. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Khan Kakar was appointed as first Vice Chancellor of the University, on 19th, December, 2014

The University of Loralai started working with the departments of Management Sciences, Computer Science and Commerce. Later on in 2014 University of Loralai started Education department and announced the admissions to M.Ed classes. Gradually, other departments (Sociology, Social Work, Mathematics and English) will start soon. UoL is the third general university in Baluchistan and first one in the Zhob Division.

University of Loralai will serve as center of quality education and is keen to develop competence in communications by critical thinking, dissemination of science and technology knowledge at national and international level.
