Pakistan as a developing country faces many issues concerning the healthcare facilities including the shortage of qualified and professional nursing staff. Aware of the situation and realizing their responsibility the SIUT decided to introduce a quality education program for nursing education. SIUT became the first leading hospital which was providing free of cost education based on a six months duration and awarding Diploma Nursing Program. The first academic program started in 2006. So far 238 Nursing Assistants have completed the program.

In 2007 the nursing program was upgraded introducing General Nursing Diploma Program which qualifies nursing students to take licence exam of Sindh Nursing Examination Board.
