BS Biological Sciences (Microbiology)
Mission:
To prepare the next generation of leaders in research, academia and industry through a focused, high-quality biological sciences undergraduate program, majoring in Microbiology, with an emphasis on research, relevant to the needs of our population.

What makes the program unique?
The degree program is designed to provide our graduates with a sound basis and conceptual understanding of biological processes and various aspects of microbiology. Additionally, the mentioned degree program will provide exceptional avenues for graduates training in basic and advanced investigative microbiology. Considering the immense expertise of the department faculty, our undergraduate program will not only provide a strong foundation in microbiology major but also strong scientific background to do future research in basic, applied, advanced and emerging areas of the field. Behavioral competencies are one of key element in today’s job market. We have, therefore, incorporated courses related to philosophy, logic and social sciences to build our students’ capacity to think and reason in a multi-disciplinary world. The students will be required to learn and carry out a meta-analysis in their seventh semester to acquire the ability to critically appraise scientific literature. A hands-on project in a wet lab in their eighth semester will give the required skills to conduct research.
