Description

Pharmacy is the science and technique of preparing and dispensing drugs. It is a health profession that links health sciences with chemical sciences and aims to ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical drugs. The pharmacists have the skills and knowledge to help patients understand and use their medicines in the most appropriate way. While most pharmacists work in community and hospital pharmacies, many also work in primary healthcare environments, government organizations, industry, medical writing, and academia. Opportunities for pharmacists are constantly growing as the healthcare sector changes to meet the needs of our communities.

Keeping in view the emerging needs, Faculty of Pharmacy – originally established in 2003 – has laid down its objectives very carefully to enhance the industrial production and improve the status of manpower through skill development and value addition. This Faculty trains future pharmacists and scientists and provides professional development opportunities to practicing pharmacists required in the pharmaceutical industry. Our department is unique in Pakistan because we have our own pharmaceutical industrial unit that provides practical training to our students. In addition, we have a Model Pharmacy which provides quality medicines and services to the local public at concessional rates.

The faculty offers graduate degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmacy Practice, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharm-D as well as PhD and MPhil in Pharmaceutics andPharmacology. All of our programs are driven by our mission to enhance the quality of life for the people of Pakistan and the global community through improved health. The past decade has witnessed major advancements in the practice, drug discovery, pharmaceutical technology and regulatory affairs of pharmacy.

The faculty has 15 PhD and 20 MPhil qualified members. The faculty is continuously being strengthened by recruiting potential candidates and well-equipped laboratories with latest facilities. A large number of research projects have been granted by national and international organizations. Similarly joint research project under PERIDOT program has been initiated to enhance the research capabilities in all disciplines of College of Pharmacy.
